About Me:

Damir Sabic, Founder of Damir’s Design

I was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and my journey has been one of resilience, innovation, and passion for design. In 1997, my family and I immigrated to the United States and settled in Waterloo, Iowa, where I began building a life rooted in creativity and technology.

MY FOUNDATION OF EXPERTISE

I studied Epidemiology with a minor in Public Health at the University of Northern Iowa, and later pursued Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Construction Engineering at Arizona State University. This multidisciplinary background has equipped me with a deep understanding of both technical precision and broader system thinking.

Over the years, I have held positions as an Automation & Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Auditor-ICC Building Inspector, and Production Technician, among others. These roles have sharpened my skills in areas like process optimization, quality assurance, and modular construction. Each experience has contributed to the foundation of knowledge and expertise that drives my work today.

MY PASSION FOR 3D PRINTING AND DESIGN

What truly excites me is 3D printing and custom design. I founded Damir's Design, based in Houston, as a way to channel my passion into creating unique, functional pieces. I take pride in combining advanced technological techniques with traditional craftsmanship to produce items that stand out. Every creation is 100% designed and printed in the U.S., and I make sure each piece reflects the quality and dedication I put into my work. Whether it's bonding 3D-printed shoes with traditional barge cement or creating custom PCB designs, I believe in adding an artisan’s touch to modern engineering.

BRINGING VISION TO LIFE

I’ve worked on a variety of projects, from crafting carbon fiber composites to developing a custom lazy Susan-style turntable for 3D scanning and photography. Every project is an opportunity to blend my engineering expertise with artistic expression. My client base is diverse, ranging from individual artisans to interior designers looking for bespoke solutions. I enjoy collaborating with local fabricators and manufacturers in Houston to offer specialized 3D printing services tailored to their needs.

LOOKING FORWARD

My goal is to grow Damir's Design by securing a larger studio space that can better support my ambitious projects and ensure a cleaner, more efficient workspace. I’m also passionate about using my platform to educate others on best practices in tackling complex 3D printing projects, hoping to inspire and guide fellow creators and innovators.

Being fluent in English and Serbo-Croatian, and holding a valid U.S. passport, I’m open to international collaborations.
I love bringing my skills and multicultural background to projects that require a global perspective.
